James Stolen was adopted from Calcutta, India and has lived in Alaska and Oregon. A graduate of Carleton College, he also served two years in the Peace Corps in Lesotho teaching English and HIV/AIDS curriculum in a remote village in the highlands. He is a recent graduate from the MFA Program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and has served as a fiction editor and reader for minneosta review, as well as a reader for Toad the Journal. He is currently working on a novel, poetry, and a series of short stories. He has work previously published in Bellevue Literary Review, Callaloo, Shenandoah, Ghost Town, Outside in Literary and Travel Magazine, minnesota review and Sierra Nevada Review, among others. He recently accepted a Visiting Assistant Professorship position at Eastern Oregon University and will be teaching creative writing and literature in the fall.
